The Western of the French Riviera and its Hilltop Villages

8:45 am – 4:30 pm Fully adjustable

Perfume, villages and gorges of the Western Riviera

A private tour through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Côte d’Azur, from the perfumed streets of Grasse to the cliffs of the Gorges du Loup, with Provençal culture and Mediterranean views along the way.

Grasse, perfume capital of the world

Grasse is famous for its haute parfumerie, but the Old Town (Vieille Ville) is just as worth seeing.

  • A maze of narrow alleys, ochre facades and small squares cooled by old fountains.
  • A behind-the-scenes visit to the Fragonard Perfumery, to see how perfume has been made here for centuries.

Gourdon, the eagle’s nest

At 760 meters above sea level, Gourdon looks out over the Mediterranean like a balcony.

  • The view: the Loup Valley and the blue line of the sea in the distance.
  • Lunch: regional cooking at La Taverne Provençale, whose terrace seems to hang in mid-air. A good place for a glass of rosé.
  • Heritage: a 9th-century castle, Romanesque architecture and artisan shops built into the rock.

Lavender fields (July to September)

Between July and September, the high plateaus turn purple with blooming lavender, and the smell is unmistakably Provence in summer.

Gorges du Loup

After the villages, the wilder side of the Riviera:

  • limestone cliffs and emerald pools,
  • waterfalls that cool the air on hot days,
  • rock formations carved over thousands of years.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence

The day ends in one of the most famous fortified villages in France.

  • Art: walk the ramparts that inspired Chagall and Matisse. Today the village is full of contemporary art and boutiques.
  • The late light: flower-lined cobbled streets in the golden hour, a lovely way to end the day.
